Planning proposals to undertake major refurbishment and renovation works to Upminster Court were agreed by the Council on July 17th.

The plans, which are subject to a number of conditions, were submitted by the Uniserve Group and focus on developing a state-of-the-art International HQ and training centre whilst restoring the listed building and grounds back to its former Edwardian glory.

Features of the plan include, rebuilding boundary walls, subterranean office accommodation, 3 tennis courts, refurbishment of coach house, building two semi-detached dwellings for staff use, a rooftop Italianate garden, restoration of greenhouses and resurfacing of car park.

As the site is on Metropolitan Green Belt Land, it was a requirement that very special circumstances were demonstrated that the restoration and long term protection of Upminster Court is maintained while the integrity of the listed building and grounds is preserved.
