A licensing application to permit music, dancing and the sale of alcohol until 2am every day of the year at Upminster Court has been met by an avalanche of protest and objections from local residents, police, public Health and the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority.
The application has generated 160 separate objections relating to 212 people from 142 different addresses. Objections raised centre around excessive noise, disturbance, unreasonable hours, anti-social behaviour and public nuisance.
The application is due to be heard by the Licensing Sub-Committee on Tuesday 27 th September (10.30am) at the Town Hall.
Cllr Clarence Barrett (RA, Cranham), who is due to speak on behalf of residents at the hearing, said: “A licence for music, dancing and the sale of alcohol until 2am every day of the year is simply and utterly unacceptable. This is a quiet, peaceful area and residents do not deserve to be subject to loud noise, disruption and potential disorder until the early hours of the morning.
"Upminster Court is a wonderful listed building which has been refurbished to a high standard. It has been described as a jewel in the crown for Upminster - we do not want it turning into a thorn in the side for local residents."
