UPMINSTER UNDERGROUND
DEPOT WORKS BEGIN

The planned expansion of the London Underground Depot (Upminster) in Front Lane will begin this month. The project is designed to provide additional facilities for the new District Line trains due in service in late 2013. As the expansion is contained within the existing boundary of the depot, planning permission is not required.

Unfortunately, the expansion will mean the removal of trees and vegetation from the site. We have had several meetings with LU regarding the works and, in particular, the impact on neighbouring properties in Ingrebourne Gardens and Eversleigh Gardens . Following completion of the works in September 2012, a replanting programme along parts of the boundary is currently being considered. We are continuing our discussions with LU and an agreed communications protocol has been agreed so that nearby residents are kept informed.

From the end of January there will be a significant amount of lorry movement in the area as wagons will be depositing and removing soil and other materials. At its peak, there will be up to 60 lorry trips a day entering/exiting the depot at the Front Lane entrance. This phase of the works is scheduled to last around 10 weeks.

The hours of work are 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 2pm on Saturdays.

Should you have any queries/concerns about the works please call 0845 257 7878 (24 hrs) or e.mail at communityrelations@tfl.gov.uk .
