THAMES CHASE CENTRE ON THE UP

Work to rebuild the Thames Chase Visitor Centre, which was destroyed by fire in 2007, is now well underway and visitors are welcome to the site to see how the project is developing as well as enjoying the many facilities at the centre.

The Centre, in Pike Lane, Upminster, was struck by lightening and completely destroyed in August 2007 (see picture). Fortunately, the 19th century stables and cart shed (Ford Education Room) and 17th century Essex barn were not damaged and remain open to the public. The programme of activities for schools and youth groups continues, with both the Ford Education Room and Essex barn available for hire for children's birthday parties and other events.
