SAVE ST ANDREW'S CHURCH!

St Andrew's Church in Hornchurch dates from 1243, but the church is now under threat because of copper thieves ! During a two month period last year, thieves struck 10 times and stole a huge amount of copper from the roof (despite an alarm being fitted after the first few occasions) which also resulted in heavy rain getting through the temporary covering and seriously damaging the 99 year old church organ.

So as well as the usual running costs, we now have the added cost of the roof alarm system (around £15,000), non copper replacement roofing (approx £30,000) and somewhere around £60,000 to repair the organ; as ecclesiastical insurance will only pay out £5,000 per year, this ancient and magnificent church now has a huge amount to raise.

So if you've worshipped here, attended baptisms, weddings or funerals or even just enjoyed this beautiful building as you pass by – please consider making a donation to help towards this debt.

Whether you're a ‘secret millionaire' or an OAP, all donations will be gratefully accepted at the Parish Office, 222 High Street, Hornchurch, RM12 6QP, please put cash in an envelope marked “Organ/Roof Appeal”, and cheques should be made payable to “Hornchurch P.C.C.” (a form to Gift Aid your donation is available by request).
