HAVERING STANDS STILL FOR THE FALLEN |
Havering stood still at 11am on Remembrance Sunday to honour all those who gave their lives in the name of freedom and liberty.
On a glorious winters morning, thousands gathered at war memorials in Romford, Upminster, Hornchurch and Rainham to pay tribute to the fallen by observing a two minute silence and by placing wreaths and poppies on the memorials.
At Upminster (pictured) more than 400 people gathered ahead of a marching band as members of the armed forces, local dignitaries and other organisations laid 17 wreaths in remembrance.
These numbers were soon swelled by poppies, crosses and other floral tributes laid by the many residents also commemorating the occasion.
