Havering's most green-fingered gardeners were announced at the Havering In Bloom awards on Friday 14 October.
Over the past year residents have been busy digging, planting, potting and growing incredible floral displays in their gardens. Pubs have been joining in the community spirit with colourful hanging baskets.
The most popular category of Best Front Garden was won by Parminder Singh of Harrier Close, Hornchurch.
The Best Hanging Basket award was given to two gardeners as the judges found them both equally outstanding. The joint winners are Kathy McKelvey from Upminster and Ashley Brown from Romford.
The Best Community Garden was given to Douglas Road in Romford and the award for the Best Commercial Area was won by Saint Francis Hospice in Havering-Atte-Bower.
The Best School Grounds award was given to Corbets Tey School for the second year running. The award is given not just for areas that are attractive and well-maintained, but also on the educational use of the grounds.
The awards don't just recognise beautiful displays of flowers – but also vegetables with prizes going to Best Allotment Plot and Site. This year the awards went to David Willox for his plot at Norfolk Road and Peter Gibbs won the site award for Keats Avenue.
The Chambers Award has been awarded to Corbets Tey School. This award was created to recognise the hard work and dedication of communities and social groups around the borough. The award is named after a resident who, along with his neighbours, created a haven of colour and beauty in a residential street.
The Discretionary award was given jointly to both Nelmes Primary School and Crownfield Infant School. This is awarded to an individual, community, social group, or school which the judges feel have achieved recognition for the borough within the London In Bloom competition.
A competition to grow the tallest sunflower was won by Robert Spink from Romford.
