HAVERING WITHDRAW LORRY BAN

Havering Council has decided to remove the London Lorry Ban (LLB) as from next year.

Havering has given notice to London Councils that it intends to withdraw from the London Lorry Control Scheme from 1 April 2010.

Under the current LLB, weekend and night-time restrictions apply to HGVs of 18 tonnes and above unless drivers carry a special permit.

Hauliers face penalty charge notices (PCNs) of up to £5,00 if they are caught flouting LLB rules.

For the administration involved with enforcing the LLB, Havering expects to pay London Councils £15,638 for 2009/10.
