2009/10 COUNCIL TAX
HAVERING STILL THIRD HIGHEST

Despite a more modest 1.9% increase for 2009/10, Havering residents are still paying the third highest council tax in Greater London. At £1,511 per year for a Band D property, only Kingston-Upon-Thames (£1,631) and Richmond (£1,597) charge a greater tax. The average council tax across London is £1,315.

In terms of council tax increases, the average across London was 1.24% with 12 councils agreeing a tax freeze whilst Hammersmith & Fulham reduced the bill by 2.2%.

The Greater London Authority also agreed a freeze, staying at £310 per annum.

The top three increases were at Richmond (3.5%), Kingston-Upon-Thames (3.2%) and Croydon (3%).
